MEET NANCY

Nancy Hayden

Nashville architect Nancy Hayden, AIA, prioritizes her natural instincts when designing her clients' award-winning projects. A key moment in her process is asking clients, "Are you a back door person or a front door person?" This question reveals what truly matters to them when they arrive home and how they live in their space. The success of her work stems from this deep understanding of how people live.

"I want to design an environment customized to my clients' everyday needs. To design a place which will allow the stages of a client's life to flow naturally, effortlessly and beautifully, throughout a lifetime."

Hayden’s early years were characterized by hands-on creativity, which laid a solid foundation for her future career. Her childhood experiences—building miniature log cabins, life-size huts in the backyard, and even the family swimming pool—instilled in her a deep appreciation for design and structure.

Upon graduating from the University of Arkansas with a degree in architecture, Hayden embarked on her professional journey with passion and determination, overcoming the challenges of being one of the few women in her field.

Over the past 35 years, she has amassed a wealth of experience, from pioneering commercial and residential projects to mastering historic renovations and space planning. Her extensive background has not only refined her unique approach to design but also cemented her reputation as a respected figure in the architectural community.

Her work has garnered attention and acclaim, being featured in publications such as the Tennessean, Nashville Scene, and Southern Living Magazine.
